It also provides automobile airbag inflators and resin compound products for use in cars; gas generators for seat belt pretensioners and civilian-use pyrotechnics, such as pyro-fuses; acetic acid, ethyl acetate, other cellulose acetate, and acetate tow materials; and chemical materials, such as cycloaliphatic epoxy, caprolactone derivatives, alkylamines, and ketene derivatives. In addition, the company offers engineering plastics, including polyoxymethylene, polybutylene terephthalate, polyphenylene sulfide, liquid crystal polymer, and cyclic olefin copolymer; resin compounds for non-car use, which includes AS resin, ASB resin, and long fiber-reinforced plastics compounds; barrier films for packaging, polystyrene sheets, and molded containers; carboxymethyl cellulose for use in batteries; reverse osmosis membranes, ultrafiltration membrane products, and water treatment systems; and defense-related products for aerospace and defense systems. Its products are used in transportation, electronics, medical care, personal care, everyday life, and environment and energy applications. The company was formerly known as Daicel Chemical Industries, Ltd. and changed its name to Daicel Corporation in October 2011. Daicel Corporation was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Osaka, Japan.
